Curtis & Emma’s perfect Spring wedding

You were all very attentive and extremely thoughtful but also fun!
Words can’t express our thanks for all your hard work
— Mr & Mrs Parkinson

Emma & Curtis said “I do” on Saturday 30th April 2022 surrounded by 80 of their friends and family on a lovely sunny Spring day. Their day was beautifully captured by Declan West & Adam Najduch.

As we had a wedding on the day before Emma’s, she came in a few days before to drop off any decorations and also run through the final wedding details one last time. The Bride then opted to stay at her parents the night before and drive over with her bridal party just before walking down the aisle.

Emma looked breathtakingly stunning when she arrived with her chivalrous Dad helping her every step of the way. The Groom also arrived in a beautiful vintage car and was surrounded by a multitude of groomsmen to provide emotional support whilst he waited for his soon-to-be wife.

WEDDING CEREMONY

While the guests were waiting, the Bride & Groom chose ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ by Marvin Gaye & ‘Come and get your love’ by Redbone to serenade their guests.

It was then time for Sophie, Beth, Ciara, Shannon & Emily, our beautiful bridesmaids to make their way down the aisle to ‘To Build a Home’ by The Cinematic Orchestra before the Bride and her Dad, Geoff made their entrance.. If you don’t recognise the name, you will recognise the song, it is beautiful. Listen below…

We always advise our Bride’s to listen carefully to their entrance song and work out exactly when they want to walk in, then let us know at the final meeting so we can ensure it happens. Emma had definitely done this because she walked in at exactly 2 minutes when the song crescendos, ensuring full emotional impact for the guests and Groom! Bravo Emma!

DRINKS RECEPTION & PHOTOGRAPHS

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed a glass of elderflower fizz which is our favourite drinks reception choice! Whilst the guests were milling in the gardens and congratulating the wedding couple, they had chosen to have live music playing in the background.

If the weather permits, we would always advise to have your musical artists in the garden, it creates such a lovely atmosphere for your drinks reception. Even better if a few guests get up to have a little boogie!

As the drinks reception comes to an end, it’s time for the confetti shot.

Here are our quick FEW TIPS for the PERFECT CONFETTI SHOT

TIP 1: We always organise the confetti shot along with photographers to make sure you get the perfect photo BUT you will not get that photograph with a rubbish amount on confetti! Ideally you want a “good” handful per guest to get the photos you see us post.

TIP 2 : It must be biodegradable but the brightly coloured dried flowers always look the best as they really stand out! There is even a “flutter” range, that slowly falls to the ground so more chance for the perfect shot.

TIP 3 : Don’t worry yourself with boxes or packets for the confetti, spend your pennies on buying more confetti and whack it in a cute basket. The boxes or packets are just awkward (especially if you have a glass of rosé and only one hand spare) AND they are usually just thrown round the garden which doesn’t look great either!

TIP 4 : If you have more than 70 guests, split the confetti into two baskets so it’s quicker for people to grab a handful and get into position. Also, less chance of your guests getting overly excited and prematurely throwing their confetti and missing the shot completely.

SPEECHES & FOOD

Everyone knows that speeches can get a little raucous, especially the bestman/men speech. That’s why I LOVE this photograph so much, Curtis, Emma & her parents faces are a picture. I really wish I can remember what is was in response to but I am thinking it wasn’t fully PG!

The wedding couple had attended one of our quarterly wedding tasters to pick the food for their special day. They opted for two of our favourites; leek & potato soup and slow braised beef with mash and root vegetables. They then picked a rising star in our lemon posset with shortbread, a great refreshing choice for Spring/ Summer months.

The wedding couple also popped little jars of homemade jam on everyone’s setting which the Bride gifted us the day after and we can vouch for how yummy it was on some toast with a nice cup of tea! We love when our couples pick really personalised ideas for favours, guests appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into them.

EVENING RECEPTION

After all the guests were delightfully full, it was time to party and what better way to kick off a party than with a game of beer pong?!

Beer pong is quickly becoming our favourite upgrade, it’s the perfect way to re-energise guests after a 3 course meal! Saying that, Curtis & Emma’s guests didn’t really need much encouragement to party, they were all over it!

CAKE CUTTING

One of the best things Emma & Curtis did when planning their wedding was booking A Cake Occasion for their wedding cake, she is by far one of the best cake makers around. Her cakes look, taste and cut amazingly!

Jo from A Cake Occasion created the below masterpiece for Emma & Curtis. They had the more traditional side on view throughout the day with the batman reveal during the cake cutting!
