Kathryn & Richard’s Wedding
Kathryn & Richard’s Summer Scorcher!
I am unsure where to start with Kathryn & Richard’s day, it was special in many ways! Firstly, not every wedding couple enables us to feel like we are hosting a friend’s wedding. They are such a warm and hilarious couple that you can’t help but love being around them. Secondly, they nailed their supplier choice so it was a breeze of a day for us. Plus they dressed every inch of the house so it looked spectacular which always makes us so happy. Finally, they were brave enough to allow UKTV to film their day for an upcoming show, ‘Wedding Valley’. Yes, national TV! Anyway, we will have to write a separate blog for to tell you all about that…
Photographers : Laura Shorrock & James Brooking - Stunning photographs as always!
Videographer : Make sure to scroll to the bottom to watch the AMAZING video by Lauren Simpkin, it must be one of our favourite wedding films of all time!
So without further ado…
Kathryn & Richard had their wedding with us on Thursday 7th July 2022 with 60 guest in the day and another 60 in the evening. They arrived the day before with a van, yes a van, full of decoration and bits which was meticulously planned by Kathryn and her Mum, Julie. Thank goodness, we didn’t have a wedding the day before, it would have been near on impossible for us to get all those decorations out the morning of the wedding! To say the house looked beautiful is an understatement!
Once they had spent a good few hours decorating, it was time to make their wedding to the Garden Apartment to relax, pamper and look forward to the next day! The Garden Apartment had been decorated by Antha Event Hire with lot’s balloons filling the main bedroom, creating the perfect backdrop for lot’s of fun photos for Kathryn and her bridal party.
THE MORNING OF…
Whilst the Bride relaxed the morning of the wedding, the Mother of the Bride, Julie was found putting finishing touches on the decoration around the house ensuring everything was perfect. Every time we checked on the Bride, her and her bridal party were relaxed and enjoying their morning together. Kathryn opted to do her own make up and just look how amazing she looked! She looked absolutely flawless!
One of Kathryn’s best decisions whilst wedding planning, was choosing Hedgehog Florist for her bouquets and table decorations. During her final meeting, I asked Kathryn what her bouquet was like, she just shrugged and said I told Julie “To go big or go home!” and Juie definitely listened. That bouquet was as massive as it was stunning and very very heavy!
Whilst the Bride was putting the finishing touches to her bridal look, the Groom arrived in his car which was definitely his next love after Kathryn. It even had a personalised vinyl on the back with the wedding date on!
He arrived with his two best men, John & Ian, they almost completed their best men duties of making sure the Groom arrived on time and dressed. The Groom was early (tick!) however in the very short journey he had lost his pocket square (no tick!), so a grand search ensued to find the pocket square. Sadly, they had no joy so we were called up to sort the problem. We gave Richard a pocket square from one of the best men and fashioned two new pocket squares out of a napkin for the best men. Much to the hilarity of John & Ian. Problem, solved!
THE WEDDING CEREMONY…
The ceremony room looked stunning with flowers from Hedgehog, hoop backdrop made by the Bride’s Mum PLUS handmade pearl drapes on the back of every chair, painstakingly made by Kathryn, her Mum & Grandma. Now, that is dedication to the cause! It was completely worth it though because the ceremony room has never looked better!
Favourite little touch of the day?
The lavender candles throughout the house that went perfectly with the lavender decorations!
MUSIC CHOICES
Wedding Guest Arrival : Human Nature by 2Cellos & The Shire by Howard Shore
Bride’s Entrance: Caribbean Blue by Enya
Signing of the register: World filled with love by Craig David & Something beautiful by Time Halperin
Bride & Groom leaving: September by Earth Wind & Fire
What an epic song choice to leave the ceremony to! An upbeat song is always a great choice, as you can do a little celebratory dance up the aisle with your new wife/husband!
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS
The wedding couple were blessed with the most gorgeous summer weather, it was very very warm but it meant they were able to have some stunning photographs in the garden! They utilise all of our favourite photo spots, including our meadow, the pergola and of course of famous front door shot!
Also BIG shout out to Jamie, Kathryn’s Man of Honour! He was so much fun and kept the bride calm throughout plus he rhinestoned those shoes himself, so what is not to love?!
THE WEDDING FILM
When we received Kathryn & Richard’s wedding film by Lauren Simpkin, we got quite emotional. It beautifully captured the joy and fun the entire wedding party had and how much love there was between everyone.
You must watch the film to get the full feel to Kathryn & Richard’s big day.
THE WEDDING BREAKFAST
Now once the drinks reception and photographs has been completed. It was time to move into the Alexandra Suite for speeches and the wedding breakfast. Once again the wedding couple (and both Julies!) had decorated our wedding reception room beautifully, it looked breathtaking. We cannot wait to receive more photographs of the wedding breakfast room, the purple delphiniums were showstoppers!
WEDDING MENU
Salmon fishcakes, citrus mayo
Pan seared chicken breast, dauphinoise potatoes, seasonal vegetables, chicken jus
Salted caramel cheesecake, praline
The unassuming guests were in the middle of enjoying their desserts with the playlist Kathryn had made playing quietly in the background. The suddenly a dramatic entrance shocked everyone…
The wedding couple had organised a massive surprise for all their guests! Once we had finished serving cheesecake, Daniella Mantrapp bust into the room with a fabulous rendition of ‘It Should Have Been Me’ by Yvonne Fair. I have never seen a whole room go from pure shock to uncontrollable laughing so quickly. The poor Groom got the worst of it, with multiple blows to the head with Daniella’s bouquet. He did get a very lipsticky kiss to make up for it though!
The surprise by Kathryn & Richard, completely sums up what they envisioned for their day. They wanted everyone to have the best time and for it to be rememberable. So much so, that the Groom installed a football goal with a life size cut out of himself for guests to have target practise with!
FIRST DANCE
The wedding couple opted for not one of our regular first dance songs, they chose ‘Forever Starts Today’ by Tim Halperin. It’s a really lovely first dance song and their personalised neon in the background was the perfect backdrop for photographs. BUT don’t worry, there wasn’t too much mushy romance before Daniella Mantrapp came back with another fabulous performance, but this time Shirley Bassey was her muse!
The guests then danced the night away until they could no more - what an amazing day!
Thank you to Kathryn & Richard for creating such a fun wedding to be a part of, we wish you all the best for your lives together. We cannot wait to see the rest of the photos, oh and the TV episode featuring your fabulous day!
