Sparth House: An Exclusive-Use Wedding Venue in Lancashire
Every wedding at Sparth House has the free option of being exclusive-use, meaning the Georgian manor house, gardens, 16 bedrooms and the team are reserved for one wedding only. There are no other events, no shared spaces, and no other guests in the main house. Couples have the run of the property from the night before through to the morning after.
Sparth House was named Exclusive Wedding Venue of the Year for England at the 2025 English Wedding Awards, and the page below explains why couples increasingly choose exclusive hire over a hotel wedding, what's included at Sparth House specifically, and how the pricing works. To see the venue for yourself, our private show rounds run by appointment with the in-house team.
What "Exclusive-Use" Really Means
Exclusive-use is one of those wedding industry phrases that gets used loosely. At Sparth House, it has a precise meaning. From the night before your wedding through to checkout the morning after, the entire property is reserved for one wedding only.
That means no other ceremonies running in another wing of the building. No other parties using the gardens for photos. No hotel guests in the bar. The 16 guest bedrooms, the two-bedroom Garden Apartment, the reception spaces and the in-house team are all yours.
At Sparth House, your wedding spaces are private to you throughout the day. For couples who want all 16 bedrooms reserved for their wedding party, we offer a fully exclusive option. If you don't need all 16 bedrooms, we have a non-exclusive option where your wedding spaces remain completely private. There is no separate venue hire fee or exclusivity fee in either case.
Why Couples Choose This Over a Hotel Wedding
Most weddings in the UK still happen at hotels or shared event venues. A growing number of couples are choosing exclusive hire instead, and the reasons are usually the same:
Privacy. No other weddings or events running alongside yours. No guests in the corridor on the way to the ceremony room.
Pace. You set the timings.
People. The same team is with you from the show round through to the morning after, instead of meeting your duty manager for the first time on the day.
Photography. Uninterrupted use of the gardens and reception rooms, with no other weddings using the same backdrops on the same day.
Atmosphere. The whole property has the feel of a private house party rather than a function room booking, because that's what it actually is.
What's Included at Sparth House
Exclusive-use means something different at every venue. At Sparth House, here's what it covers in practice:
The full Georgian manor house and grounds for the day of your wedding.
All 16 guest bedrooms across the main house, for your overnight wedding party (full property exclusivity requires these to be booked).
The two-bedroom Garden Apartment for the couple and up to five of the bridal party the night before.
Indoor ceremony rooms, licensed for civil ceremonies.
Reception and dining spaces for up to 100 daytime guests and up to 200 evening guests.
Landscaped gardens for ceremonies, drinks receptions and photography.
An in-house wedding planner from the Sparth House team, working with you from your first show round through to the morning after.
An in-house kitchen led by Head Chef Calum, with menus designed around your day rather than a fixed function-suite offering.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an exclusive-use wedding venue?
An exclusive-use wedding venue is reserved for one wedding only, with no other events sharing the building, grounds, accommodation or staff. The main house is your private venue for the duration of your booking.
Is Sparth House always exclusive-use?
No. For a fully exclusive wedding, all 16 bedrooms are reserved for your wedding party. Your guests for their rooms directly. If any rooms remain unbooked, the couple covers the remaining balance. There is no separate venue hire fee.
If you don't need all 16 bedrooms, ask us about our non-exclusive option — your wedding spaces remain completely private either way.
What's the difference between exclusive-use and a hotel wedding?
At a hotel, your wedding shares the building with other guests, sometimes other events, and the staff are looking after both. With exclusive-use, the house, gardens and team are yours alone.
How long does the exclusive hire last?
It depends on the package. Twilight evening weddings have exclusive use from guest arrival until late. Full-day weddings include the use of the Garden Apartment the night before. The Three Day Wedding Weekend runs from the evening before through to the day after.
Is the property fully exclusive without booking the bedrooms?
Full property exclusivity requires all 16 bedrooms to be booked.
How many guests can the venue hold?
Up to 100 daytime guests and up to 200 evening guests.
