12 DAYS OF WEDDING PLANNING - DAY 11

12 Days of Wedding Planning

DAY 11 - DECISION TIME

Eeek!! You’ve been to see your 6 potential venues - how exciting! Did you love them? Were some of them sadly not your cup of tea? It’s now time to make some tough decisions (or not so tough if you’re lucky)…

Now that you’ve been to see a few of your favourite venues, you’ll probably want to revisit a couple of them.

  • This might be with your parents or maybe it’s just to see it once more as a couple to help you make up your mind and get all the feels when you see it in real life again.

  • It’s also a great opportunity to ask any other questions that might have come up after you last viewed them.

  • On average most couples will revisit 3 of the 6 venues for a second time and then make their decision. So if you weren’t set on ‘the one’ after that first visit, do not worry, it’s completely normal to revist a few!

Decision made - your heart is set on ‘the one’! So what’s next?

  • It’s time to book of course!

  • Read those T&Cs carefully

  • Check about a payment plan or when payments are expected to be made

  • Confirm your quote incase you’ve revised numbers or anything since last time (Don’t worry, they will fluctuate over the course of the planning but as long as your quote is pretty accurate. The last thing you need is to be hit with a huge increase in payments you weren’t expecting because you forgot to add those extra 10 people on or something!)

  • Secure your date at your dream venue with your deposit!

You’ll also need to book your registrar or church for your date

  • Make sure you check with your venue what is the most suitable time for your ceremony to ensure your day can run smoothly

  • If you’ve got a short lead time between now and your wedding date (let’s say less than a year), then it cold be worth pencilling in your date with you venue first. You can then go away to arrange your ceremony and then confirm your venue with your deposit. Reason being, registrars can get very booked up especially on peak dates and being restricted to an 11am or 3pm ceremony can make things very very difficult.

Congratulations!!! You’ve done the hardest wedding planning jobs of them all. Now go have a glass (or bottle) of bubbly to celebrate - you deserve to!

Biggest task - tick! You might be feeling quite a mixture of emotions right now. You’ve committed to your wedding venue and your wedding date! It’s a super exciting time and it’s about to get even more exciting. Next up is the final step in perfecting your first 12 days of wedding planning and now the fun really begins as you will be starting to book you suppliers…

If you like what you see so far, then we’ve plenty more for you…
