Pros of a last minute wedding

  • Save money! More chance of getting a last minute deal but also less chance on spending money on things you do not need!

  • No time to procrastinate or dilly dally on decisions

  • Less options can be a godsend when needing to make decisions quickly!

  • Possibly only your loved ones being available at short notice, not having to have everyone and their dog there!

  • You will love everything you book, rather than booking a supplier or a style and disliking it a few years down the line, you will love everything as you have just booked it!

Cons of a last minute wedding

  • You might struggle to look your registrar at your perfect time. If so, think about a celebrant!

  • If you have one dream supplier you really want for your big day and they are already booked up. So you would either need to be flexible with your date or your supplier

  • Possible important guests not being able to make it

  • If you need to save up for your big day

  • Dependant on how last minute you book your wedding, trying to have hen & stag do’s could be tricky to fit in.

How to plan a short lead wedding?

  1. Get moving! Find a venue that has last minute availability, make sure to look for any late availability offers they may have. Not only could this save you money on the package but they often add different things in to help with it being a last minute wedding. For example, a DJ or venue decoration, this is super helpful as it’s another piece of planning that you don’t need to worry about!

  2. Registrar! Get in contact with your local registrar to see what their availability is for their chosen date. If they are not available, think about having a Celebrant. They are more personal and will really get to know you as a couple!

  3. Now on to Suppliers. Book in your photographer, florist, entertainment, cake, dress & suits etc. To save time, try using your venue recommendations rather than spending time searching through lot’s and lots of suppliers.

  4. Invitations. Waste no time in getting your invitations out to you guests so they can confirm their availability asap!

  5. Now the bulk is done, work through all the finer bits and pieces.

  6. Main piece of advice, do not dilly dally! If you like a supplier and they are available, get them booked so you can move on to your next item.

  7. Enjoy!
