Alice & James’ Wedding

ALL THE ROMANCE WITHOUT THE TRADITIONS

Alice and James were the couple who ditched the rule book and did things exactly as they wanted. We always encourage our couples to ‘do you’ whether that’s keeping up with traditions or flipping everything on it’s head! And as these photos show, leaving tradition behind doesn’t mean you need to leave the ultra romantic and dreamy moments behind too. Of course they were captured by the wonderful Matthew Grainger Photography.

My (now) husband and I are not very traditional so knew we needed a venue that wouldn’t force us into having a traditional wedding. We’d seen a couple of venues before going to view Sparth House but this was the first venue that took the time to find out about us and what we wanted before showing us round.

CIVIL CEREMONY

Alice & James chose to get ready and arrive together, before walking down the aisle hand in hand.

After saying their ‘I do’s’ the couple headed indoors for a drinks reception and canapes. The couple chose brie & cranberry focaccia, pork, cheddar and onion rolls, king prawns and dark chocolate orange tarts.

WEDDING BREAKFAST

The couple chose not to have a traditional top table and opted for a round table instead. They also didn’t want the formalities of speeches, so went straight into their wedding breakfast. Alice & James gave their guests a choice menu of:

Salmon fishcakes or Chicken Liver parfait to start
Pan seared chicken and dauphinoise potatoes or Sirloin of beef and duck fat roasted potatoes for mains
and finally, chocolate brownie and caramel ice cream or Salted caramel cheesecake and praline for dessert.

Tables featured gold candelabras, with red rose petals and pine cones, to complete their winter theme and compliment their stationery.

Their stunning cake was from Sugar Fancies Cake Design

The food was also delicious and there was plenty of it! We had canapés, the wedding breakfast and an amazing market food buffet in the evening, so no one went hungry!

EVENING RECEPTION

The couple opted not to do a first dance but did cut their cake then got straight into the evening festivities.

Guests were treated to yet more delicious food with an evening buffet of a Greek Meze and a classic Italian lasagne along with an added cookie bar!

They made the most of the dark nights, and our amazing outdoor lighting, to get some incredible shots once the sun had set.

Throughout the whole run up to the wedding, right from booking, Olivia and Katie were available to answer any questions. We also really appreciated all the helpful planning documents. The venue is effortlessly classy, we had so many compliments from our guests. Katie and Emma managed every aspect of our day and gently guided us to where we needed to be. We felt so special and the day was even better than we could ever have imagined thanks to the Sparth House team.
